We are grateful to board with Dave Johnting, professional horseman, farrier, and multi world champion. Dave takes incredible care of our horses.
Facilities include Indoor Arena, Outdoor Arena, Trails, and Round Pen.
Specializing in starting young horses to saddle, we can finish your horse to suit you.
We Love Sport Horse Arabians!
We also have backgrounds in a variety of horse breeds, including- Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds, Gypsy Vanners, Tennessee Walkers and gaited horse breeds, ponies through large warmbloods, we are happy to work your horse with our program.
All horses in training get the basics:
--> Dressage based training.
--> Obstacle and Trail use with hills, creeks, woods and open fields.
--> Immersed in a working barn.
--> handling Arena traffic,
and much more.
We would be pleased to take your horse on field trips when he is ready! (aka shows/clinics/trails/events)
We believe cross training is good because we want your horse to have a solid foundation for riding, and be comfortable in a variety of situations, with the tools to respond appropriately to the rider's aids. With solid lines of communication, your horse will be ready for a specialty discipline. We can finish your horse in Hunters, Jumpers, and Western Trail. Our horses regularly participate in pattern classes, so we will make sure your horse has all the buttons tuned. A good broke horse needs to be able to neckrein, sidepass, open and close a gate, and go over a jump. We want to help your horse dreams become reality.
Most importantly, our training with your horse is to build the horse YOU NEED!

Board for your horse including stall with shavings and cleaning, hay, pasture rotation, and your grain fed am and pm.
Enjoy the farm facilities with your horse! Access to indoor arena, outdoor arena, round pen, trails, obstacles and jumps!
Access to 12 group riding lessons on your horse each month.
Access to 4 unmounted group Horse Sense Classes per 4 weeks
Access to 4 Showmanship Classes per month
Access to monthly goal setting meetings with your instructor

We Ride

Colt Starting
$1,250/month
Includes in Trainer Colt Start:
Board for your horse. Shavings, stall cleaning, hay and pasture rotation. Owner provides grain.
Trainer carefully works your young horse 5-6 days per week to get him started under saddle and riding with confidence.
Access to one owner-horse lesson per month.
Videos, photos, and updates sent regularly.

Shannon Carr specializes in starting young horses under saddle. She is a lifelong equestrian with a preference for hunters, jumpers, and trail competitions. Shannon grew up blessed with the responsibility of ponies and horses in her back yard, combined with 20+years of training and showing under the tutelage of Missy Jo Hollingsworth of Saddle Lake Equestrian Center. She was president of the University of Cincinnati Equestrian Team, and open rider for english and western disciplines. Shannon graduated UC in 2011 with a BaS in Organizational Leadership, and a psychology minor. She continued to teach friends and neighbors on her horses, and earned "Master Instructor" from the Certified Horsemanship Association in 2012. Shannon has continued her equine education with an internship in 2015 for the International Society of Biomechanics. She has been fortunate to learn and work with wonderful professionals in her career. Shannon is certified Level 1 for Leadership Development with www.E3Assoc.org, after hosting an international training in 2018.
Shannon founded Esprit Equestrian in 2023 as an educational program centered on children who love horses. We are training the future of our equine industry.
Shannon began starting young horses at age 10 with her first AQHA mare when she outgrew her first pony, Coco (he lived to age 31 on Esprit Farm). Utilizing her lifetime of experience in the saddle, Shannon is still fit and keen to start your young horse under saddle for you.
Small Pony Training also available with the help of Vera Carr, Shannon's daughter.
